We found two jobs a piece within the first week, and swam in the swimming pool between shifts at the Mount Vernon Inn. We walked down the street to see movies and along Mission Ave. for our jobs. The mountains rose above Escondido from the east; you could see them from the streets. Everything smelled of flowers and trees and grilled food. Oceanside

The depths forbidden! The Spill and the Spider (complete)

Spill and the Spider” Today, Peter Parker is a photographer aboard a skimmer, the Lady Sabrina. The boat was recruited to help retrieve the oil from the water’s surface, as dark clouds gather overhead. He feels sick and sad. Fumes and brown globs cover its waters. After a terrible oil spill, boats have gathered to help. “My spider sense,” he thinks, “keeps buzzing, as though there’s some form of danger all around! And these gases give me a terrible headache! Compared to this, web slinging in New York City is a breath of fresh air!” “Storms are bringing wind speed up several knots,” remarks the captain next to Peter. He is scrubbing a brown pelican with detergent. “Glad we are heading back to shore.” “Wish these pictures had better news,” says Peter. “I hope, when people see this, they will not forget,” says Captain Steven, shaking his head. “Trouble with the radio, Captain Steven!” says a crewman. “No signal going out.” “Looks like we have company,” says Captain Steven. “Tha

Astra Kelly Alright

Scary, beautiful intensity paired with optimistic vision. Sometimes I've participated in discussions about faith. Faith is clearly there, and the singer's almost got enough for two! It's the urgency and chance to fail; the singer's acknowledging the intensity of the situation. Yet she brings a reassuring and bold chorus into being until it is the mantra of the Now. That's a powerful song. Astra's website is here: there are four free downloads to start. http://www.astrakelly.com/Index.htm pictures from trip to Moonlight Beach, where I drew for the new pages of our comic D'n'A and made a present. C Lue Disharoon June 7 at 2:34am Lindsay, I've been enjoying your original music every since the first time I heard and sketched you over at Java Jones! Of course, you inspired Marc Kane to compose for the first time on guitar. Probably your most exciting musical change lately is putting together a "Crazy Horse" of your own, the White Lies, so I'm going to ask some things I've been wondering and share them with our friends! 1) how many songs did you guys write for the White Lies? 2) Who wrote them? Lindsay A. White: Thanks for asking...i'll try to answer best i can: The White Lies are sort of an extension of what I do solo. I write all the songs by myself and if I think it will sound good with the band, I'll show it to them and they enhance it with their talents. I honestly don't know the exact number of songs we know as a band but it's enough to play about two hours if we have to. I am currently finishing up my first full length album, but I sta
