Tripping Through Pop Culture: behind the scenes of the Hollywood scenes, with author Sam Maronie!

Here's more of my talk with sci-fi convention photographer, Sam Maronie! Here's a great discussion of his nostalgic inside look at the making of classic Hollywood movies and shows, his new book Tripping Through Pop Culture. Sam's collected memorabilia (over 50, 000 movie stills!) and a vast array of interviews with some of the behind-the-scenes people who created your favorite cult movies. Lots of books focus on the stars and their dramas-and there are big ones here, like Lynda Carter, and Bob Hope. Martha Raye, and Vincent Price all tour through old school St. Louis, too. Sam peered under the big top's work tents, you might say. He quickly discovered the crews of many key technical positions crossed over into a fascinating array of projects. This book will make you an instant honorary insider. If you are a collector, an avid Silver Screen fan, an old film buff, comics lover, or just someone with piqued interest- look for the Joe Phillips cover! You can orde...

Some fun scans Harold sent: Embedded code: Download this episode (right click and save) "> https://creatingmarvels.podbean.com/mf/play/d89e4y/marvel_con_75_w_harold_parker_podcast.mp3 And also from the program: I also continued talking to the Marvle Con '75 event photographer, Sam Maronie! Here's a great discussion of his nostalgic inside look at the making of classic Hollywood movies and shows, his new book Tripping Through Pop Culture. Sam's collected memorabilia and a vast array of interviews with some of the behind-the-scenes people who created your favorite cult movies. I met him as a convention photographer, for an interview about Marvel Con '75, one of his first, if...

IN fact, Sam sat down with Jack Kirby, in addition to attending all the panels. Come back in time... Marvel Comic Con in 1975 was the very first convention hosted by the Marvel Comics Group itself- and Sam Maronie was there! Here's a few minutes with his eyewitness account, including his meeting with Jack Kirby. Sam shot most of the existing high quality photos from the event that you still see today- and continues photographing comics convention the nation over.
